About me

Photo of me
I am passionate about hand painted silk and fused glass, and love to teach.

I am an experienced silk painter, and founder of the Surrey Branch of the international Guild of Silk Painters.

I first took up silk painting at the Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace, when the Fabric Colour Workshop were doing taster sessions. I went with curiosity, and came home with a large frame, some silk, a brush and a box of little bottles of paint!

I recently completed my City and Guilds qualification in silk painting, and am now studying for an Art & Design Diploma at the University for Creative Arts in Farnham.

I am the head of the Surrey Branch of the Guild of Silk Painters. We normally meet on the third Sunday of the month, alternately for workshops and "coffee and chat". This provides a wonderful opportunity for us to catch up, bring our latest creations and our friends, try new techniques and talk about silk painting. Do contact me if you are interested in coming along.

I have attended courses taught by Mandy Southan, Margaret Dunning, Jill Kennedy, Wendy Riddick and Leonard Thompson, among others.

I have displayed my work at the Knitting & Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace, and exhibited at the National Needlework Archive and Bourne Hall. I was interviewed by the Victoria & Albert Museum as part of their "local crafters" project in 2010.

I do individual tuition on request, and am happy to run "taster" sessions. I am also a trained musician and offer private tuition in cello and theory of music.

I accept commissions, and can make scarves, ties and accessories in your choice of colour and design. I also design and make wedding invitations and favours.
