Silk Painting Courses
Here are some brief descriptions of courses I have previously run. Other options are available!
Silk Painting Techniques
A comprehensive introduction to a range of creative silk painting techniques for beginners and improvers. This is a great place to start your silk painting journey, and is also great as a refresher course.
Inspired by Klimt
Explore and be inspired by the work of Gustav Klimt. Create your own silk painting using gorgeous gold outliner.
Silk Scarf in a Day (gutta resist)
Design and paint your own long silk scarf, using traditional gutta resist techniques.
Silk Painted Cards using pre-outlined pictures
This silk painting taster session lets you create beautiful greeting cards by using pre-outlined silk blanks. This is often a workshop I run at shows or events, where each person paints one card to take home.
Silk Painted Cards
Design, outline and paint a selection of silk greeting cards for all occasions.
Hand Dyed and Block Printed Silk Scarf
Hand dye and print your own colourful silk scarf, including designing and making your own print block. (This workshop uses both iron fix paints and steam fix dyes).
Floral Fantasy on Silk
Come and paint your favourite flowers and plants on silk, using traditional gutta resist techniques. You are welcome to bring photographs from your garden as inspiration.
Say it with Silk
Paint your own inspirational word or message on silk, using a range of techniques.
Landscapes and Seascapes
Create miniature landscapes and seascapes on silk, using "free painting" and texture techniques including salt effects. No structural outliner required (though you can use it for decoration)!
Abstract on Silk
Take a line for a walk, and use a range of techniques including wet on wet, free painting and salt to make a fabulous square painting which you can turn into a cushion cover later.
Wax on Silk
The silk painting version of Batik! Using paraffin wax as a resist on silk. This technique is often called "faux batik" as it doesn't involve the dye baths which are used for traditional batik. I can also teach a number of basic "Rozome" techniques.
Silk Scarf in the Microwave
Yes, it's 1980s tie dye all over again! This is a lovely fun workshop in which you get to tie and dye your own fabulous silk scarf.
Your choice!
Other custom courses and sessions covering specific techniques are also available. Give me a call or email me to have a chat about what you'd like to achieve.
