Silk Painting - Better than colouring books!

I have been having fun this week with a couple of new silk painted pieces, so I thought I'd share some progress pictures with you. These are 18" squares, which may turn into pictures or cushion covers at a later date depending on how they turn out. I really enjoy creating these pieces, and often use them as trials for larger items such as scarves.

Once you have drawn your outlines and let them dry, it can be quite relaxing painting them. It makes a nice change from those adult colouring books which are in fashion at the moment, and you get a fantastic textile piece for your efforts rather than a bit of paper!

If working with outliner isn't your thing, you can also buy all sorts of cards / scarves / cushion covers etc. with pre-printed designs on them - check out Silkcraft and Rainbow Silks who have quite a wide range. If you shop at Silkcraft, you can use the code GUILD1 for free P&P on your first online order.

If you'd like to improve your outliner skills so you can create exciting silk pieces like these for yourself, then consider booking a place on one of my fabulous silk painting courses.

In other news, I also now accept "CraftCourses" gift vouchers, as well as offering my own gift vouchers.

Have fun!

Jane :)

Note: If you tend to use your colouring book to while away the time on trains, planes or in other moving vehicles then you may wish to stick with the paper version!

Welcome to my newly redesigned website with its fancy new integrated blog. I'm really excited about this new opportunity to bring you news and information (and occasional giveaways, book reviews and product reviews) about the wonderful world of silk painting and textile art.

I recently visited The Handmade Fair at Hampton Court, and will be doing a guest blog post about that for the lovely Nicola at www.ahandcraftedbusiness.com. I look forward to being able to show you all the fascinating and wonderful things I found, and tell you about the lovely people I met.

I am also pleased to let you know that I am officially a book reviewer for the prestigious Search Press, so will be bringing you all sorts of gorgeous publications very soon!

I hope you are all having a most fabulous summer, and look forward to catching up with you on one of my Silk Painting Courses very soon!
